My Favorite Summer Cocktail: Peach Mango Basil Margarita with Key Lime

ree

When the weather heats up, I start craving fresh, fruity cocktails—and this Peach Mango Basil Margarita with Key Lime is one I come back to again and again. It’s tropical, bright, a little herbaceous, and super refreshing. I first made this on a whim with leftover fruit, and now it’s a staple anytime I need something fun and citrusy to sip.

If you love tequila-based drinks, this one checks all the boxes. It’s easy to make, full of real fruit flavor, and that hint of basil adds a fresh twist you didn’t know your margarita needed.

Ingredients (1 cocktail)

Here’s what I use to make one glass:

  • 2 oz silver tequila

  • 1 oz fresh key lime juice (about 3–4 key limes)

  • 1 oz peach purée

  • 1 oz mango nectar or purée

  • 0.5 oz agave syrup (optional—depends how sweet your fruit is)

  • 2–3 fresh basil leaves

  • Ice

  • Peach or mango slice & basil sprig (for garnish)

  • Key lime wedge & lime salt (for the rim)

Instructions

It’s super simple to shake this up at home. Here’s how I do it:

  1. Prep the glass: I start by running a wedge of key lime around the rim of my glass, then dipping it into lime salt.

  2. Muddle basil: In a cocktail shaker, I gently muddle 2–3 basil leaves just enough to release their flavor (don’t overdo it—it can get bitter).

  3. Add everything else: I pour in the tequila, key lime juice, peach purée, mango nectar, and agave syrup if I need a touch more sweetness.

  4. Shake with ice until it’s nice and chilled.

  5. Strain over fresh ice in the prepared glass.

  6. Garnish with a peach or mango slice and a sprig of basil.
